Our Story

In June 2016, our family boarded a plane for Jinja, Uganda. My husband Tim and I took time away from our secular jobs to fulfill a conviction God pressed into our spirits years prior. We packed our suitcases and prepared our four small children for the twenty-four-hour journey from North Carolina to East Africa.

People often say, “Tell me the story of your water well.” But more than a trip itinerary or a Ugandan story, what they really want to know is, “What was God doing in your life to get you off your couch and halfway around the world?”

People ask the question because they have the same desire. Something in them wants to get off the couch and be used by God. But sometimes, they don’t know how. They’re not sure of the next step, the next yes.

The truth is, yes. God longs to use you and me, ordinary people, in meaningful ways for His Kingdom and glory. He used one leap of faith to a water well in Uganda to show me how. God uses ordinary people like us to fulfill His global purpose because God’s not limited by our resources, geographical location, or family obligations. He’s only limited by our nos.

Being used by God hinges on having the faith to hear God whisper and the courage to step out when He does.

But we mustn’t inadvertently exchange the extraordinary for the ordinary. It’s tempting to unknowingly sacrifice the fulfillment of our souls for the illusion of security. We don’t say yes because we’re afraid of where yes will lead or what it might cost. We either struggle to trust God will lead or are too stubborn to follow Him to the abundant life He offers.

I want you to experience every blessing, adventure, and miracle found in obeying God–the rest and fulfillment for our souls we desperately seek. The Next Yes may share our story of a water well in Uganda, but it’s about your journey with God. I hope you will join me on the journey to “Yes, Lord” and use the lessons shared to grow your faith and spur your yes.
