Where Do We Go For Answers???

I couldn’t believe what I was hearting.  I was watching a program on Answers in Genesis when they showed a clip of a renowned theologian proclaiming he believes the Bible in regards to science, until science refutes the Bible’s claim.  I thought, Then what’s the point of the Bible if you value man’s opinion over God’s Word?

I recently read the definition of knowledge is information, but wisdom is knowing how to apply that information.  I wish I could remember where I read it to give proper credit, but I couldn’t agree more.  It is not for a lack of information that we are left perplexed, rather a lack of wisdom.  I fear our thirst for knowledge has inadvertently deprived us of wisdom.

“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” Proverbs 9:10

The information highway, the internet, has inundated us with information.   But our lack of knowledge of the Holy One has left us foolish.  I fear we have traded Jesus for degrees.  We have leaned into our own understanding instead of filtering everything through the Word of God.  We, as a nation, have kicked God out of our schools, government, courthouses, homes, and even some churches.  And then we wonder why we languish.  Why we are experiencing an opioid epidemic, severe identity crisis, children that leave the faith of their fathers, depression ,strife, anxiety, and suicide?  Our minds are full but our souls our empty.  We have deprived generations of purpose and meaning.  We have deprived them of Christ.

“He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.” Colossians 1:17

Without Christ, everything falls apart.  Relationships, meaning, purpose, education, knowledge, and understanding.

I have decided I really do believe the Bible.  All of it.  And if I am told something today that contradicts the Bible, then I choose to believe the Bible.   I have lived long enough to know that what is adamantly proclaimed today is often discarded tomorrow.  I choose Jesus.  I choose God’s Word.  I choose to diligently pursue Christ in everything.  A Biblical Worldview–Christ in everything–academics, politics, culture, exercise, hobbies, relationships, finances, pleasure etc.

I have used the past several months to diligently pursue Christ in everything.  I have sought knowledge in our culture, politics, educational system, science, and history.  By God’s grace, I have intentionally filtered each realm through the Word of God.  Although I have not arrived at perfect knowledge or wisdom, I have begun the pursuit.

Below are a list of resources God has used to add to my faith, knowledge and hopefully God’s wisdom. (2 Peter 1)  I share them for those wrestling over their faith and our culture.  I have not read/listen to the entirety of each resource, but have found myself most closely aligned with these resources.

We may not land in the same spot in every category but I pray we will always continually pursue Christ in everything.

  2. We are in a huge battle!! Not against flesh and blood. Ephesians 6. It’s hard but worth it. We have to believe the Bible above everything, if we don’t we have believed in vain and then we are to be pitied above all men. Thank you Dana!! Thank you Jesus for shining your light through Dana!! We need His light.

    1. Thanks for being in the trenches as we raise a generation of godly men and women!! We need more teachers like you. ?

  3. You’re an inspiration for me to try to put more Jesus in everything I do! Thank you for having the courage and knowledge to speak the truth. We need more Jesus in every aspect of our lives. It is absolutely frightening to see what is going on in our country and to see the disregard for God. Thank you for your strength. You eloquently put into words what others, like me, cannot. Thank you, Dana!
