The Next Yes…
Not sure about you, but saying yes to God is scary. It is time consuming, expensive and it takes lot of energy. But it is also satisfying.
I know many of you have had the same experience. I have heard your stories and bear witness to the Spirit at work within you.
More than anything I feel called to “yes”. Yes, to Him. And yes to sharing the how and why of “yes”. How does God equip us to say “yes”. And why we should keep saying “yes”.
I want to give life to “yes”. What it looks like in the day to day. I want to demonstrate how saying yes will lead you to the most soul-satisfying adventures of your life.
So, YES will be our theme this year. It’s where we’re headed.
We will profile yes–people saying yes and living out God’s Word. We will discuss the practical side of yes. Yes requires time, energy and money. And most importantly, we will study the scriptural principles at work within yes.
The reality is, our story stops with no.
Our “yes” is required to be used by God.
Certainly, God wants to use our yes to bless others and usher in His will. But He also wants to use yes to make us laugh, know we’re loved, thrill us with adventure and satisfy us with joy. Yes works both ways.
God loves a good mystery. We don’t know what tomorrow brings. But at the same time, He can’t seem to keep a secret.
Like God, I’m not going to tell you everything we’re going to do this year, but I will tell you a few things. The next three months we will lean into profiles of yes and the practical ramifications of yes. We’ll talk about the upcoming Breast Cancer Screening Clinic in Migori, Kenya. I’ll share how I see God moving in one friend specifically and then we’ll have a guest writer share her own profile in yes.
Towards the end of May, I’ll share our journey to a water well in Uganda in an expanded form through a podcast. Hopefully, after a couple of months of leaning into profiles of yes and the practicality of yes, you will begin to ask for the spiritual root of yes. How does God get you up off your couch and send you half-way around the world to a water well? How does God get us to yes?
The truth is God moves us through His Word and His Spirit. But, there were some specific scriptures and lessons God used to get me moving. I hope to share those truths with you so you can skip some of the agonies of remedial learning.
I’m not going to lie, there were days I felt like the child on the roller coaster with their Father. I was terrified of what I saw before me. But, once the ride was over–the well was done, all I could think was…
“Let’s do it again!!”
God willing, this year He will use our time together to empower and equip us all to keep saying yes!
